Founded in 2000 by Chris Weir, we specialize in designing and building custom homes and larger–scale remodeling projects throughout Genesee, Livingston and Northern Oakland Counties.

Weir Building Company’s unique pre-project development and design process allows Chris to partner with his Clients as they work together to refine each project’s design, budget, scope of work, etc.  By participating in this comprehensive process, most, if not all, of the “unknowns” are identified, accurate prices

are defined, and realistic expectations set.  Having this peace of mind, prior to job-start, allows our Clients to further enjoy their building or remodeling experience by eliminating unplanned cost overruns, scheduling delays, and all the other “nasty” surprises we have heard about regarding someone’s construction project “gone bad”.

Our success as a design-build company is best shown by the fact that most of our work comes by the way of referrals. Drawing from over 20 years of experience in the industry, Chris continually provides solutions that balance our Client’s wants and needs with their budgets. We are always finding ways to improve our processes and nobody is better at listening to and learning from Clients.

As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), Chris Weir has received extensive training in aging-in-place construction techniques.  These techniques are designed to allow homeowners the ability to remain in their home comfortably as they age.   By receiving a certification in CAPS, he has become knowledgeable in the techniques of remodeling and building spaces that allow independent living and has access to specialized resources and tools. This allows him to remodel or build a home to achieve the Client’s goal of staying in the comfort of their own home as safely and conveniently as possible.  Less than 1% of builders and remodelers nationwide have achieved the CAPS certification. Chris is the only contractor in Genesee County to hold this designation.  

Chris Weir has also obtained the designation of Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR).  He has met business practice standards, provided a proven record of successfully managed projects, completed an extensive education curriculum and pledged to follow the program’s code of ethics. Less than 1% of remodelers nationwide have achieved the CAPS certification.
